The Book

book

Over the course of three years, four artists sent a sketchbook back and forth between them in completely random order. Two of the artists lived in Brooklyn and two in Belfast. Every Wednesday one of the artists would receive the book and was tasked with preparing a work responding to the one on the page before it. The Book would have to be sent on to another of the artists the following Monday. A small portion of each artist’s work would carry on to the next page as the starting point for the next artist. Other than that little bit of spill over on to the next page, there was no communication between the artists concerning the content of The Book during the three years they worked on it. By the time The Book was completed it had travelled over 60,000 miles and contained 36 really amazing works. You can check the full content of The Book out here.

Looking for the meaning of a word? Sometimes a word’s inherent meaning is best translated in a photograph as demonstrated by the photographic dictionary. For example, check out this unexpected and yet somehow perfect photo describing the word  ”hug”.

I love these take out cups from Brooklyn Fare a gourmet market in, well, Brooklyn and designed by Mucca Design. If they weren’t all the way on the other side of the continent, I’d visit them just for these cups!
